### Description
I am unable to download any file or browse for any file, e. g. … to add as an attachment, when using brave. In previous versions of the browser, I was able to download files and browse for a file location, but the past few weeks I have not been able to do this. I am using Arch Linux with the i3 window manager on X11. I am able to download files on my desktop using another browser (librewolf), and when using brave on my laptop, which is arch linux with sway/wayland, I am able to open the file explorer and download files.
### Steps to reproduce
1. Click on any download link or add attachment link.
2. nothing happens
### Actual result
The file browser does not open.
### Expected result
A popup should open where I can select the file I want to upload or the location where I want to download the file.
### Reproduces how often
Easily reproduced
### Brave version (brave://version info)
1.74.10 Chromium: 131.0.6778.85 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)
### Channel information
- [ ] release (stable)
- [x] beta
- [ ] nightly
### Reproducibility
- [x] with Brave Shields disabled
- [x] with Brave Rewards disabled
- [ ] in the latest version of Chrome
### Miscellaneous information
I downloaded brave, both on my laptop and desktop, from the AUR brave-beta-bin package. I should also say I can add attachments by dragging the file from another program, it is simply the selection of a file to add which is broken because the filesystem explorer popup does not open in brave specifically.
I’ve added your report to the issue for the devs to review. Can you please also tell me what Linux distro you’re using at this time?
