MacOS 14.2 Sonoma
Brave v1.63.165 Chromium 122.0.6261.94 (Official Build) (x86_64)
Description of the issue:
Since about 10 days ago, downloading simple .pdf files from a site I intentionally access every day that previously downloaded normally, are now blocked and a popup appears asking if I want to keep it. I have noticed it happening on other downloads from other sites too. (Its not that I spend my entire life downloading things).
How can this issue be reproduced?
- access a site
- download a file
Expected result:
File downloads in the background with no further user intervention
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
Brave v1.63.165 Chromium 122.0.6261.94 (Official Build) (x86_64)
Additional Information:
Brave’s Help on the matter points me to the OS security, which has nothing to do with it (I checked).
How about if you insist on this vexing new addition, you allow selected sites to be ‘allowed’ so that downloads from them do not get blocked?
How about you make an option in Settings to turn on or off download blocking?
There is an option in Privacy and Security called ‘Save Browsing’, which I normally leave set to ‘Standard Protection’. This is the only thing in all the Brave settings that I can find that has any semblance of being relative to the problem. I don’t want to turn it off. Why not separate out this download blocking feature you have created (or your colleague has created) and make a clear and easily findable and accessible setting that users can turn off Download Blocking with?
