Creating a new tab should focus the URL bar on iPad

Come on Brave, it shouldn’t be that hard to follow basic UI guidelines. Every other browser focuses on the URL bar when you open a new tab. Let’s get it done!

Hi dev team, it’s coming on 5 years from the start of this post and not a single word from you on even why you’re not implementing it. Is everything ok? Are you working behind the scenes to prevent a major data breach from coming to light for your users? What is going on?

To clarify I want this on all tablets not just iPads and a simple way to determine what the user wants is how the new tab was opened

  • the user used the touch screeen? do nothing
  • the user pressed a text shortcut to open a new tab? assume the user wants to start typing immediately like a desktop/laptop user since it’s evident that the user in interacting with their device using the same tool - AKA a keyboard!
