The option to skip YouTube ads isn’t available on Brave. I downloaded the browser yesterday didn’t touch any major settings that would seemingly affect whether the ‘skip ad’ option is available or not.
I like to have ads turned on for YouTube as it means I can support content creators, but this doesn’t mean I want to sit through minute-long ads if on any other browser I have the option to skip them. I turned shields off on YouTube, and although the ads show the skip option doesn’t. This creates a situation where I have to make a completely unnecessary compromise; harm YouTube creators by using adblock or waste tons of my time watching ads I could easily skip on any other platform. I have never experienced this issue before on Chrome, Firefox or Safari, so quite frankly the easiest option is not to use Brave.
This is a long standing issue. I’ve noticed posts going back a couple of years detailing this problem yet nothing has been done about it. Why should I keep using brave when it doesn’t allow me to use basic features available on ALL other browsers that without, actively harm content creators I want to support?
I am using Brave Version 0.62.51 Chromium: 73.0.3683.103 (Official Build) (64-bit)
I am using macOS Mojave Version 10.14.3
Not that this makes a difference, the issue I’m describing is across multiple Brave versions and OSs since 2017.
