I cannot skip ANY ads on youtube using Brave anymore. I don't want to go back to Firefox. Help please

Description of the issue:
When I go to youtube, I have to watch these long 2 minute ads and there is never a skip ad button. This just started happening out of the blue. I have the most recent version of brave. I am using a macbook.

Did the issue present with default Shields settings? (yes/no)

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
No, I still can’t skip ads.

Ok so after reading that long github thread it looks like there actually is no fix. Goodbye Brave, you guys tried. Back to Firefox.
