Cannot log in/connect to my Gemini Account from Brave, but i used to be able to. What happened?

Briefly describe your issue:
Cannot log in/connect to my Gemini Account from Brave, but i used to be able to. What happened that I now cannot log into Gemini from Brave like before? I see in other posts in the community that it may not be supported but even in your “supported link” below, gemini is still checked green and is the option in my browser. It says “logged out” which I did, but now i cant log in.

What Operating System and Brave version are you using? (Menu --> About Brave)
Mac w/ ventura 13.6.9
Version 1.69.162 Chromium: 128.0.6613.120 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Who is your verified custodian? (Uphold/Gemini/bitFlyer)
Gemini

Are you in a supported region? (see here for list of supported regions)
Yes

@ryjobe36 Just to clarify, the green checkmarks are for Uphold, BitFlyer, and ZebPay, but not for Gemini. Gemini hasn’t been supported for over a year now.

If your current Rewards profile had been linked to Gemini and you haven’t uninstalled or reset it, you should still maintain the connection. However, if the profile or device is reset, you’ll lose the ability to reconnect.

It would also help to know what happens when you try to connect to Gemini. Are you seeing the “try again later” message, or does it say your country isn’t supported? Sharing these details can be really helpful.

oh, I saw the green check but didn’t notice it was only in the creators column… which I am not… so that would explain why it doesnt work… but its really misleading. which brings me to answer you other question, it doesn’tsay “try again” or “not supported” but in fact prompts me to log in, goes thru the Authy process and then just says “something went wrong, contact support”

@ryjobe36 yeah, under the Something went wrong part is where it says Please try again. I couldn’t remember the whole message but just recalled that one part.

If it was to Uphold or something, I’d tell you to reset your Rewards. But don’t want to do that since you’re on Gemini. Your best option will be to create a Rewards Support Ticket at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001302431 so someone from Brave can take a closer look. At least they will be able to identify if there are any issues with your Rewards profile.

About the only other thing I can say is if you want to try to clear all cookies from the browser and try again, just in case that’s somehow causing an issue in its attempt to reconnect.

Thanks @Saoiray … i tried to clear cookies and that didnt fix it, so ill take your advice and file a ticket at that link

@Saoiray so this was the last correspondence I got from support:

Thank you for reaching out to Brave Support. I can confirm that his profile is still linked on our end and you’re still eligible to earn. We apologize for the error you are being shown and Gemini is working to resolve the matter.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

So that’s what I did, twice now. No response back. And my issue is still not resolved. They just passed the problem to Gemini for some reason somehow , who obv is not working on it, not contacting me nor fixing anything. What do I do?

@ryjobe36 I understand your frustration. Gemini has had ongoing issues, which is one of the reasons why I’ve chosen not to switch to or recommend them. These issues have included not only payment delays but also legal and ethical concerns they’ve faced. Given that, it’s understandable that integration problems may still be occurring.

From Brave’s side, they can only ensure that the payments are sent and the connection is established. Any issues afterward, like the ones you might be experiencing, are generally on Gemini’s end to resolve.

Could you share your ticket number and when you received their response? Also, are you committed to staying with Gemini, or are you open to switching to another option? Keep in mind that Brave hasn’t supported Gemini for new profiles for over a year now, and it’s unlikely they will again in the future. Brave seems to be putting more focus on on-chain payments recently.

I appreciate the response and I get it… I’d share the ticket number but its been a couple weeks and nothing so I doubt ill ever see one. Def not married to Gemini… actually would love to switch to another custodian. Just was affraid I’d fk something up and get completely locked out/have to start over. but I guess Im already there anyways. What wallets would you recommend to link w Brave? And is it a pain to switch?

@Saoiray , bumping… still curious what you’d switch to

@ryjobe36 sorry, don’t remember seeing the reply of you asking, guessing didn’t get a notification due to no tag. I have Uphold and have been quite happy with them. I also have a profile that has been doing on-chain payments as I was in one of the early test groups. Both work well, but of the two I prefer Uphold because it’s easier to convert to cash and all.

Currently Brave Wallet hasn’t been letting me sell BAT, which means to remove it I’d have to send the BAT to an exchange and then process, so it’s extra gas fees and all. Perhaps it wouldn’t be bad if I did a lot more in self custody wallets and all, but I keep things very simple and don’t do too much with cryptocurrency in general.

As to whether it’s a pain to switch, it depends. If you already have an active Uphold account then it’s incredibly easy. But if you’re needing to create one then it would be a bit trickier as you’re going to have to go through the whole KYC/AML process where you submit your passport and/or other documents to prove your identity, tell them where the money you plan to use for any crypto purchases come from (at which point they’ll make you prove the earnings), make you take a selfie, etc. It’s not necessarily difficult but it can be annoying.

On-chain payments currently aren’t enabled for everyone. So to get on it you’d have to try to sign up for the waitlist at I discuss in the topic at PSA: Current and upcoming changes to Rewards and Creators

Either way, to switch, you’ll have to Reset your Rewards. Then from there would have you connect.
