I have being using Gemini account connected to Brave rewards for almost 2 years now. I am based in Singapore and there has being no change in the location or Gemini account details.
Now all of sudden I cant link my Gemini account to Brave rewards. When I was trying to figure out I see that Gemini is only for US? From when? Was there any communication for this? Did i miss it?
What Operating System and Brave version are you using? (
Menu --> About Brave)
OS : Win 11
Brave Version : v1.61.109
Who is your verified custodian? (Uphold/Gemini/bitFlyer)
Are you in a supported region? ( see here for list of supported regions)
Yes, there has been a lot of communication on this. Not only in posts being created, but in lots of people asking about it and us answering. It can be very helpful if you could be sure to
Search Before Posting.
Some users are unable to log back in to their Gemini accounts via Brave Rewards and will see an error message, such as “Your request is still being processed”.
Who does this issue affect?
Not all users who have their Gemini account connected to Brave Rewards are affected. However, some users, especially those with older Gemini accounts, may be affected.
What does it mean if I am unable to log back in?
If you are stuck in the “Logged out” state, then:
Update: December 1, 2023
Sorry I went AWOL on this. This situation essentially is one big headache. Long story short: I don’t think they’ll have it open any time soon for new users or new devices. Possible fix coming for those with existing connections. Otherwise, seems focus might be on alternatives for the future.
Here’s what we know:
Chriscat, the Product Manager for Brave Rewards, mentioned they were looking into a workaround for the issue. This was on November 10
Chriscat then post…
But then also explaining in answers to plenty of other people who had issues, such as below:
@sideeyez might have helped to click the link. If you did, you’d see the below:
It says for Creators only. In other words, not for Rewards. Hence you wouldn’t be able to connect your Rewards to it.
Also might want to check out things like article below:
@kdd026 because Gemini is not available for any new devices/profiles. It might be helpful to Search Before Posting as there have been a number of topics about this that have been asked and answered. I also have a large topic available with some info. To be honest, if you had even properly chosen a category when Creating Topics you would have been presented with a template that would have directed you to check if your country was supported on the list at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/article…
You can’t. Gemini integration is down for new profiles/devices. The only people able to “connect” are on devices and profiles which have already been connected long ago. And no, this isn’t referencing how long you have had your Gemini account, but is speaking about your specific Brave browser profile.
This means you would need Uphold (if you’re in a state/country that it’s available) or you are out of luck until Gemini is restored, a new custodial partner is added or Brave shifts to on chain p…
As it says at
https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/6539887971469, Gemini is unavailable.
The template you erased asked if your country was on that list. Seeing as no country is supported on Gemini due to it being unavailable, that would answer your issue on that.
Issue isn’t anything to do with Brave. It is Gemini that has stopped connections. If you haven’t been paying attention to the news, Gemini is currently being sued by New York (may want to see https://www.coindesk.com…
So yeah, I’d say you definitely missed it. Heck, even in the template you filled out here, it provided a link and asked if you are in a supported region. If you had gone to that link to check, rather than just typing out which country you’re in, you would have seen the information below:
See how it says Gemini is for Creators only? And that even with that, it’s only United States that has it available? If so, you would know your Singapore would not be able to connect to Gemini.
Do keep in mind I’m just another user who spends a lot of time helping people. I’m typing and sharing the above not only for you, but for anyone who sees your post. Not being mean, but you are seeing some frustration in how tons of people come here and don’t read things. They just post and try to force us to constantly repeat the same answers. It can tend to get quite annoying.
Also, I’d like to leave you with two other quotes:
On chain should hopefully be landing at the first part of 2024, though we’ll have to see if they hit the target. Usually if Brave says Q1, it means Q2 or Q3, but we always have hopes it lands sooner. Unofficially, they are looking at Q1 for it to land.
Don’t forget that just because you’re logged out in the browser’s widget doesn’t mean you’re logged out on the back end. Often you’ll still earn and receive payments, so long as your Rewards on the existing browser/device had been linked and you didn’t reset Rewards, uninstall Brave, or do anything that would have erased data from prior profile.
@Saoiray Hi… appreciate your reply.
Yes i did went through the link in the template and came to know that Gemini is only of US.
