Unlisted video documenting bug in action: https://youtu.be/bPIpxiar4wg
I’m not even quite sure how to describe this. Brave window slides across monitor and only once it reaches the other side does it open the prompt to close multiple tabs. Bug also occurs when attempting to rename bookmark in the bookmark bar. Sliding speed seems to vary based on something, as it seemed to move across faster following a computer restart.
Steps to repeat bug:
- Open Brave
- Open a second tab, and drag it to the right side of the screen (such that Windows prompts the user to select another window to fill the other half the screen)
- Open a second tab in the right window
- Hit “X” on the second window
- Browser window will migrate leftwards across the entire screen until it hits the leftmost side. Side of screen where it has been will become black. Then it will maximize and open the “are you sure you want to close n tabs?” prompt.
OR
- Open Brave
- Have a link bookmarked on the top bookmark bar
- Attempt to “edit bookmark” via right-clicking the link
- Bug will occur
What should happen:
Browser doesn’t do whatever that is, and just prompts the user about whether they really want to close N tabs, or to edit the bookmark.
Similar, through far less obtrusive, behaviour occurs when number of tabs in windows is reversed (N>=2 tabs left window, and you attempt to close it)
Bug still occurred following a computer restart. Video shows bug occurring when using vertical tabs, but bug still occurs when using conventional tabs. I am not using a fresh install of Brave.
Bug does not occur when Brave is maximized/fullscreen. Bug also does not occur on my Windows 10 desktop PC, resolution 1920x1080, 60Hz, latest Brave version (On it, the window shims over one “tick” before the prompt opens) I suspect it’s a screen resolution bug of some kind.
