Browser opens momentarily and then immediately closes - MacOS

Description of the issue: I can’t open my brave browser on macos sonoma (14.2.1) all of a sudden. After clicking the app, it opens momentarily for a split-second and then closes. I’ve attached a video recording of this issue. I have tried deleting the app then reinstalling it but it did not fix the issue. I have also restarted my device multiple times. Note that I have tabs saved from my previous session.

Device: Macbook Pro 13-inch 2020

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open the Brave App (with tabs from previous session)
  2. Verify if browser remains open

Expected result:
Browser should open normally.

So I saw this thread: Brave Crashing Immediately - #25 by Khoai

and followed the solutions suggested. I came across something interesting when executing this command on the terminal: open -a "Brave Browser.app" -n --args --profile-directory="newprofiletest"

  • List item I’m able to open a fresh new browser successfully but the moment I switch back to my old profile (Profile 1), it crashes. I think the issue has something to do with whatever data I have on my profile.
