Browser crashes on startup on Mac Sonoma

Description of the issue:
On Mac Sonoma, the browser crashes within a few seconds of startup. This issue started a couple of weeks ago.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open browser by clicking icon in Applications folder or dock.

Expected result:
Browser opens with previous tabs opened.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Release: 128.1.69.168

Additional Information:
I’ve tried opening Brave with extensions disabled but that hasn’t worked either. I open the browser and see a dialog to restore tabs before the application dies altogether. I’m unable to try to find a crash ID because the app dies immediately upon start.

I’m having the same issue with Slack so I thought maybe it was a virus. I’ve run two virus scans and both came back clean.

I also tried opening using a different profile than default. The application stayed open and was somewhat useful until I tried to open LinkedIn. Doing this caused the browser to crash. I see a crash ID of 520b0500-162b-a10c-0000-000000000000 related to that. If it’s at all useful, I can’t open LinkedIn using Safari or Firefox either.

@richelesro,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Just to clarify, are you saying that trying to visit Linkedin on Safari and Firefox also causes those browsers to crash?

Safari crashes. Firefox just hangs the site.

If that is the case then I am inclined to think that there is an issue with your PC rather than with Brave. Brave, Slack, Safari, and FF are all exhibiting the same or similar behaviors on your end — if the issue was specific to Brave, the other applications should not be affected.

How would I go about finding the cause of the issue. I upgraded to Sequoia and still have the same issues. What does the crash report say?
