Brave using a lot of power, making CPU so hot that pc crashes

Hi! :slight_smile:

Description of the issue: When using Brave Browser, in particular when reproducing videos onYouTube or using a site with 3D features the laptop gets incredibly hot to the point that it crashes.
In the screenshot you can see the high power consumption and temperature.

Using a browser like Edge doesn’t cause any of these problem even reproducing videos at a much higher resolution.

I have a Macbook Pro 13 (Year 2017 Model A1708) and I have these problem both on Windows partition (Bootcamp) and MacOS partition.

This problem started to appear about a year ago but I realized that brave was causing it just few days ago.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Play a YouTube video at 1080p.

Expected result:
High load on CPU causing high power consumption.

Brave Version( check About Brave): v 1.67.123 (same goes for Brave Beta)

Additional Information:
-Already reseted the setting, cleared the cache, removed all extensions, turned on Energy Saver and turned off graphics acceleration;
-The computer was even formatted during this period;

  • All drives are up to date;
  • Problem show on both Windows and MacOS partition.

Curiosity:
The strange thing is that using other high power consumption apps, like photoshop or apps for editing videos doesn’t make the cpu so hot even if the load goes to 100%.

Hope the developer can address the issue.

Second post I see talking about high CPU load using the browser, I also noticed it, I’m starting to think it’s a bug in the most recent update, let’s wait for someone to speak up and help.
I’m facing problems just using several tabs and high CPU consumption
