Brave shortcuts/apps won't open after update

Description of the issue:
After updating Brave to the latest release (V1.35.104) on mac OS, Brave Shortcuts (created by going to More Tools > Create Shortcut (Open as window checked) will not open. Double clicking to open them does nothing.

I attempted temporarily moving my user data directory (suggested here) but that did not work.

I reverted Brave to V1.35.99 just to see if an older version still worked and indeed, it did. I have no trouble opening shortcuts/apps with this version.

I don’t know for sure which release introduced this issue, but it’s somewhere between V1.35.99 and V1.35.104.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Create a shortcut by going to More Tools > Create Shortcut… and create a shortcut with “Open as window” checked
  2. Try to open the app that was created — it will not open

Expected result:
The shortcut I created opens as a standalone app in its own window

Brave Version( check About Brave):
V1.35.104
