When I open Settings in last few days every time it shows the pop-up message: Your changes will take effect the next time you relaunch Brave. I have a few flags turned on, but when I turn it off, it still shows the same message. How to solve this without resetting settings?
@DevGrx,
Are you saying that the pop-up message appears there regardless of whether or not you’ve actually changed any settings?
Yes, it’s popping up every time I open Settings. I checked Preferences file, but I cannot find anything that I can change to remove this.
@DevGrx,
Thank you for confirming – would you mind trying another test? Simply create a new browser profile (Menu --> Create new profile
) and see if the banner appears in the bottom of Settings there as well.
It’s not showing in new profile, so it’s something broken in existing profile.
@DevGrx,
Can you try clearing your cache/browsing data for the affected profile?
I tried that already, deleted Cache, Code Cache and GPUCache and it’s still same, so I concluded that it’s something wrong in Preferences file, but I cannot find anything.
@DevGrx,
Can you try performing an action the is supposed to prompt the browser re-launch banner? For example, Hardware Acceleration
in settings ( Settings --> Additional Settings --> System --> Hardware Acceleration
) requires a browser re-launch. Toggle the option (on or off, whichever is the opposite of what it is now – you can change it back later), then click the Relaunch
option in the banner and see if this gets rid of it when the browser comes back up.
I tried that now, in both cases it still shows pop-up.
@DevGrx,
Hmmm, very strange. Can you tell me which flags you have enabled at this time?
@DevGrx,
I have to imagine that one of these is causing the issue – at this point at least. I know it’s a hassle but the next step, unfortunately is to either:
- Disable these flags either one by one or one at a time and check to see if one of them was causing the issue.
- Go to your newly created profile and enable these flags, one by one, and test to see if you’re able to provoke the banner issue (and subsequently determine which flag is causing it).
I turned off all flags and turned on one by one and nothing is changed, but in New Profile there isn’t pop-up.
I found the solution. Media Router option caused problem for unknown reason, I turned off and turned back on and pop-up disappeared.
@DevGrx,
Thank you for the diligence – I appreciate the effort. Glad you got it figured out. Please don’t hesitate to reach out
