Brave icon control

Newbie.
I cannot get rid of the Brave Icons on my desktop. Each time I make a new internet shortcut, it automatically uses the Brave ‘Face’. I do not want this or explain how to turn it off please.
This was IE, then went to Brave. win 10. It is also on my new HP laptop. Used PC Move to transfer most files. Thanks

@SRBRAV icon will always be Brave. If you want other icon, either install as app or you need to manually change the icon.

Any icon on your desktop can be right clicked on to open menu, go to Properties. From there you can choose to change icon, rename, etc. But then you need to have an icon to your device saved that you will use.

That’s a no go. Already tried this…only icons are other Brave Icons using right click. All other shortcuts on the desktop respond normally-not brave. There was a time when a Brave instruction popped up to update the icons associated. I then had Brave Icons all over my desktop. If I cannot find a solution to this, guess I’ll have to replace my browser with something else. Brave is locked in on any new shortcut made. I can go to any other browser and create a shortcut and all works well. Unacceptable behavior from brave.

someone was kind enough to provide me with a couple of dll (s) that I used to ‘fix’ this problem. Right clicking the Icon, then change Icon. only brave icons are available. By pasting one of the dlls into the “look for icons in this file” box I could choose from all the regular windows icons. driving me crazy. please help-again

@SRBRAV not quite sure I understand what the issue here is. In Windows (and this is true for any app, not just Brave), when you right-click on a shortcut and go to Properties it defaults to the included Brave icons, But there is also a Browse... option you can click where you can set the icon to be whatever you want:

Just tested on my end and was able to do this without any additional dll files or anything else.
