Brave desktop browser will not load links to Youtube. Page will load fine after refreshing or putting cursor in address bar and pressing enter

Description of the issue:
Brave desktop browser will not load links to Youtube. Page will load fine after refreshing or putting cursor in address bar and pressing enter.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
This happens any time clicking a link to a youtube VIDEO in a NEW TAB. It will not happen for example if I click the youtube logo to open the homepage in a new tab. Nor will it happen if I click on a video link to open the link within the same window.

However, anytime opening a youtube video link in a new tab, the tab will never load. It does not load at the beginning and if I go to the tab it remains a blank window and stops loading. To get the page to load I then have to refresh the page or put the cursor into the address bar and press enter.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Page NEVER loads

Expected result:
The page should load

Reproduces how often:
Every single time.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10, Brave Version 1.59.124 Chromium: 118.0.5993.117 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

PLEASE HELP

I did another restart of my computer and now the problem has accelerated as now the links themselves will never load. If I open a video link in a new tab, it will never load the page even if I refresh, press enter in the address bar, or even if i copy and paste the link to a new tab.

They will only play if I click the link directly from the youtube homepage and view it in the same tab.

Apparently I wasn’t waiting long enough. Apparently the tabs will load after a solid 2-3 minutes (timed it). Even though the refresh icon turns from an X to the refresh circle, implying the page has stopped loading, if you wait 120-180 seconds the page will then load.

This is bizarre.

How to fix this

I have disabled all extensions (adobe acrobat, surfshark, and tampermonkey) and the problem still occurs. The problem does not occur in private window

radio silence. anyone out there?

I’m having the same problem. I believe this is related to YouTube ads

Simple Solution would be to create a new profile for yt use as you said yt is working fine in private window…so there seems to be something wrong with your browser profile…
