Yes! Thanks @hnktong but I cannot add Brave to any of permissions and am not sure if this would even help.
This urgently needs resolving. Cannot boot even a new install of Brave on OS X. Bookmarks and passwords are inaccessible. What a pain!
I really don’t know what to do. Brave is so great, so much faster and everything. On my second MacBook, it is working fine, on my main computer (also Mac) it doesn’t start at all. I tried everything what was mentioned here. Nothing helped (for more than a few days).
What to do?
Does upgrading to macos 10.15 help? I would even do that …
@macman,
Apologies if you’ve already tried this, lots of replies in this thread – but do you get the same results if you download and run the Beta version of the browser?
@Mattches, the Beta version loads ok!
I’ve lost all my bookmarks and settings (perhaps since blasting my previous version with the latest while trying to fix this issue yesterday). BAT gone? Passwords lost? If I can’t get these back I’ll have to switch back to Chrome. It’s not a headache I ever want to go through again.
Thanks anyhoos, R
@Reginald,
Your data should still be right where it is. You can copy your browsing profile in Brave stable (~library/Application Support/Brave Software/Brave-Browser/Default
– note that if you’ve created a new profile that you have most of your data on, the Default
folder will instead have the name of that profile) and replace that same folder in the directory for Beta (this will be ~library/Application Support/Brave Software/Brave-Browser-Beta/Default
).
That should get the majority of your data you had in Stable into Beta – let me know if this is successful, then we can discuss getting your wallet over as well.
@Mattches, thank you. This restored my settings. I’m not going to spend additional time getting my wallet set up as it’s not worth the whole $1 to me.
Thanks for the help. Hopefully this is all sorted with the next release.
