Additional Information:
Brave keeps crashing on startup. Have to uninstall and re-install the app but does not work and also have deleted extensions. The browser was working fine the previous day
@DarkPhantom736 can you confirm your OS? Did it begin after a recent upgrade? Do you have crash reports enabled?
Thank you
Windows OS, NO just started yesterday, I am not sure if crash reports is enabled, No recent upgrades done other than some windows update.
I’d encourage you to give more details, WHICH version of Windows OS, 10? 11? 22H2? 24H2?
Just not sure if the tag was there before the question was asked, but good rule of thumb, more info the better to help figure things out good luck with your issue though
Windows 11 24H2, and thanks for letting me know
the same situation does not work, the browser reinstalled the same thing. operating system windows 10
@DarkPhantom736 sorry been so quiet. Are you still having issues or did things get resolved in the updates they pushed out?
The issues still persists even after the updates
@DarkPhantom736 okay, so let’s go through a small list here of info needed and things for you to try. This will help clarify your issue and potentially narrow things down in what’s going on so can know what direction to focus on.
-
When you say crashes on startup, can you give more details? Such as the timing from when you try to open app and it closing. Does Brave ever actually open and let you interact with it or does it seem more like it’s not even being allowed to open?
-
Does it crash 100% of the time or is it intermittent?
-
Related to #1, have you tried to disable any security programs or firewalls on your device? I’m not asking you to do this permanently but is just to see if perhaps they are blocking Brave from launching.
-
Does opening Brave in a private window work any better? To open in private you will need to have Brave pinned to the task bar and then can right click and then click New private window. If you don’t have pinned, right click the Brave icon/shortcut on your desktop →
Properties
→ add--incognito
to the end of the target line. So it will look something like:"C:\Program Files\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\Application\brave.exe" --incognito
. -
If you go to https://brave.com/download/ and install on top (don’t uninstall Brave) does the same issue happen?
-
Does this issue also happen on Chrome?
-
Could you install Brave Beta or Brave Nightly and see if the same issue happens there?
