Brave consumes over 100% cpu on mac os x

Go to espn.com and over 100% cpu consumed. This is with:

  • fresh reboot
  • only the espn tab open
  • nothing else happening
  • 0.65.121 Chromium: 75.0.3770.100 (Official Build) (64-bit) on OSX 10.14.5

No other page appears to have this issue.

There was a report about this same issue back in April by @jsoft , but it was closed after no responses.

Anyone?

@keleher,
That’s actually due to a particular issue with the ESPN site specifically:

Great, so it’s a nasty site. It’s also one of the most popular sources of sports news on the planet, and no other browser has this particular problem.

Are there no plans to fix this issue?

The first issue support referenced shows it was fixed. The second issue is related to watching a video on the site which I’m not doing.

Just going to the front page makes 6 of 12 cores run high and causes the fan to turn on. I can verify that the ads blocked counter does not increase after the page has completed loading.
