Brave Component updates fail with error

Description of the issue: When trying to update Brave components, several of them fail to update and return with status of “Update Error”
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Click on Check for Update
  2. Status returns with “Update Error”
  3. Clicking or refreshing or relaunching does not fix.

Expected result: Return of Status - Update Complete or Up-to-date

Brave Version( check About Brave): Version 1.59.124 Chromium: 118.0.5993.117 (Official Build) (64-bit)

@zeil999 In case the issue still persists, would you be able to DM me logs?

  • Windows: start Brave (not as admin) from Command Prompt via "C:/Program Files/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Application/brave.exe" --args --enable-logging --v=1 and then share with me the resulting chrome_debug.log from %localappdata%/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/User Data
  • macOS: start Brave (not as admin) from Terminal via /Applications/Brave\ Browser.app/Contents/MacOS/Brave\ Browser --args --enable-logging --v=1 and then share with me the resulting chrome_debug.log from ~/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser

Also, could you let me know if you’ve launched Brave as admin before, and if so, why it was necessary?
