Brave built-in torrent will only download a single torrent at a time

Description of the issue:
When I attempt to download a first torrent, it works perfectly. When I try a second torrent in another tab, it just hangs there on the magnet link page with “Downloading•0.0%•0 B” and never updates or downloads.

If the first one finishes, it still doesn’t start. in fact no second torrent ever starts if I STARTED a second torrent while the first one was running. I need to go only one by one, letting the previous one fully finish before attempt to start another. Once I get into the “no new torrent will download” I have to bounce the browser, then a new torrent will properly download, but again, only one.

The second torrent magnet page loads - and has that spinning thing - and I think it might even say “Loading file list” at the bottom of the page, it just never changes to a file list and starts downloading.

Is it limited to one? This a known problem? Do I have to change a setting I can’t find?

This did work at some point - I remember when I started Brave about 2 years ago maybe? I tried the torrent and it worked for multiple files - I used to download 10 at a time no problem. Then one day that changed and I was really surprised - 4-5 months ago, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. Now I’m more annoyed about it.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Start a magnet torrent - any one
  2. Start a second magnet torrent while the first one is running. No second torrent will ever download, even after the first one finished, until you bounce the browser.
  3. It’s like starting a second torrent while one is running prevents one from ever working again until bounced.

IT WILL

  • download two files at the same time from the same magnetic link - I can see two files downloading and percentage increasing properly
  • work if I stop the first one and start a second one - that start working properly - so it’s only if attempting two at the same time. In fact I can start and stop one then start and stop another back and forth - they will both start properly over and over again - but only if you STOP the first one.
  • Keep downloading the first one - the first one doesn’t stop, it keeps going.

**Expected result: Multiple torrents can run at once.

Would really love a solution for this… any ideas? Are multiple tabs supposed to work?
