Starting today, brave browser has been making my computer freeze up every time I try to switch tabs and whatnot. Every time I hover the cursor over the tabs/menu bar at the top of the screen, the browser would freeze up, along with the entire computer. It would happen so often that I would have to shut down the computer using the power button on the pc tower. Turning off hardware acceleration seems to make the problem go away, but at the cost of higher CPU consumption. I think the update today has caused the problem. I also watched the graphs of my Task Manager, and every time the computer would freeze a spike in CPU consumption would appear. For some reason turning hardware acceleration off makes it better. I’ve noticed that since turning off hardware acceleration my YouTube videos seem choppier and worse. It seems weird, because I would think that letting the browser use the graphics card would make things better, but it seems to make it worse. On an unrelated note, the steam store would also do the same thing to my computer. BTW I have no extensions. I use windows 10 home edition.
How can this issue be reproduced?
I guess the way to reproduce the issue is to run brave with hardware acceleration on.
Expected result:
everything goes normally, no freezing, no crashing.
