Brave appears bigger after latest update + colour highlight issue

Description of the issue:

After installing the latest update of Brave Browser, the UI and the pinned websites section appear to be bigger than before; in addition, when I use Xorg instead of Wayland my cursor becomes bigger whenever is pointing Brave’s window.
Also, there’s a problem when I highlight text. Before the update, the colour used by the browser was the same as my OS (orange), now, after updating, it switched to a black-ish colour making it more difficult to see what I am highlighting, especially on websites that use dark mode.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. I just updated to the latest version, I didn’t do anything else

Expected result:

Brave Version( check About Brave):

Version 1.77.95

Same issue here, had to downgrade to v1.76.73, though maybe v1.76.82 is also good

In Version 1.77.95 Chromium: 135.0.7049.52 (Official Build) (64-bit) I also have a text highlighting issue.
I couldn’t read the text, so I rolled back to Version 1.76.82 Chromium: 134.0.6998.178 (Official Build) (64-bit) where the issue does not occur, so the issue was introduced in 1.77.95.

OS: Ubuntu Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS x86_64 fully updated
Theme: Yaru-dark

For anyone else with this issue on Ubuntu, you can rollback to the last working version by running:

sudo apt install brave-browser=1.76.82

You can blacklist the bad version by editing /etc/apt/preferences and adding the contents:

Package: brave-browser
Pin: version 1.77.95
Pin-Priority: -1

This will still allow your system to see when a newer version is released and to install it during a normal update process.

1.77.97 has been released. Brave still doesn’t use my defined highlight color like it used to in 1.76.82. But highlighted text in the active window is at least visible now (It’s using dark red background with white text).

Unfortunately, highlighted text in a non-active window isn’t visible. The non-active window highlight color is a dark grey with matching dark grey text, so it can’t be read.
