Brave 1.66.1 hangs on launch (iOS)

Description of the issue:
After updating to 1.66.1, the app hangs at launch and does not proceed to the home screen.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Using a previous release, enable Face ID to unlock.
  2. Close app.
  3. Update to 1.66.1.
  4. Launch app.
  5. Pass authentication.

Actual result:
After authenticating myself with Face ID or my passcode, as usual, the app hangs on the keyhole screen. See attachments. My device quickly gets warm, then hot to the touch, and battery levels decline fairly rapidly. It does not crash at any point.

Expected result:
Proceeds to home screen.

Reproduces how often:
Every time.

1.66.1

Reproducible on current live release:
Yes.

Mobile Device details:
iPhone 13 Pro
iOS 17.5.1

Additional Information:
Brave worked normally until this update. Issue persists after offload, restart, and reinstall. I did not attempt to uninstall and reinstall for fear of losing bookmarks and playlists. I have restarted the device several times to no effect. Other apps are all working normally.

Hi, I am using Iphone 15 and Brave 1.66.1.
Facing the same issue…

Hi, the fix is coming in 1.66.2, we upload to Apple today for review

EDIT: I’ve just installed the update and can confirm it solves the issue on my end. Thank you for addressing this so promptly.

Michal, thank you for the quick response. 1.66.2 is not yet available (to me, at least) in the App Store. I presume it is now waiting in Apple’s queue?
