Description of the issue:
How can this issue be reproduced?
Select Site Settings : video playback in Brave “Disabled”
search on google.com for a youtube video. Click it.
I am having the same exact issue. I updated to the latest version yesterday I believe. I had set this to open on YouTube app earlier in the week. Now despite being set to not open in Brave, it is.
Whoops — looks like I may have acted too soon. I believe that this is due to the fact that the Allow app links to open in apps outside of Brave setting is disabled for you. To test:
Launch Brave, go to Settings --> Site Settings --> Video playback in Brave and set to `Disabled).
Go to Settings --> Brave Shields & Privacy --> Allow app links to open in apps outside of Brave and make sure this is “enabled”.
@jogwuegbu,
You’re referring to the Allow app links to open in apps outside of Brave setting? I’m on v1.57.50 right now and can see it in Settings --> Brave Shields & Privacy:
Everything is set according to the solution and still no luck, cleared cache, restarted app, restarted the phone… It does not work even if the youtube clip opens in Brave app and says that it is only available through youtube app, it gives the link to click to go to app. Brave app is not able to open the app just cycles like it’s trying to but doesn’t.
Edit: finally got it to work, with another round of cache clearing and restart. Sorry about the previous rant, your solution works!
