@Starqrl94 what is the version number you’re using currently – you can find this by going to Menu --> Settings --> About Brave.

What do you have your Shields settings set to for the site? You stated that the Adblock browser also has this issue – can you please test this in either Chrome or Firefox or any other browser you may have installed on your phone?

I am having the same issue, from the limited troubleshooting I have done it seems limited to some of the 4K videos on YouTube not all of them, search for “4K” on YouTube and play one of those videos, pressing the cog dims the screen but the menu doesn’t appear so you can’t change the resolution as a result of that.

It occurs on this video for example

The issue is reproducible on Chrome and Firefox too.

Brave version 1.76.75
Operating system: Android 14; Build/U4UQS34.50-43-1

@Kaled this is very useful information.
Looks like I can reproduce this issue on my end with this and a few other 4K videos. As you stated, I also see this in Chrome and Firefox as well. While it may be related to this issue:

I’m actually inclined to think this is an issue specific to Youtube itself rather than Brave or the browser used to view YT content. I will bring this up to the team and see if filing an issue for this is warranted or if it’s something we’ll have to wait for Google/Youtube to fix itself.

Application version: Brave 1.76.75, Chromium 134.0.6998.95

My shield settings are the default settings. I’ve never changed them before so they’re whatever the app decided for me

The issue does not persist on Chrome, but it does on my phone’s Internet app browser.

@Starqrl94 yeah as stated above I don’t think this is a Brave specific issue as it seems to be occurring in other browsers. Further, it’s occurring in non-Chromium based browsers like Firefox, so I’m inclined to believe that the issue is on the site’s side. Will reply back here when I hear from the team.

The problem with the cog menu not showing on YouTube went away it seems, at least on my end :man_shrugging:

Same! That’s so weird!
