Bookmarks sync: total frustration

Description of the issue:

Bookmarks continuously change order on their own

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  • Clean Installation of Brave 1.0.1 on a Clean Windows 10 1909 installation
  • Configure new Brave Sync for two computers (both with fresh Brave and Windows installs)
  • Start adding bookmarks to folders or loose in the toolbar
  • Restart Brave or Windows AFTER I changed the order/added more bookmarks
  • Bookmarks have now a different order

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result:

They should keep the order you originally gave them

Reproduces how often:

Everytime I restart one of the two computes, if I make any change to them, some or most of them change their order.

Additional Information:

This has been happening since I started using Brave back in February.
Sometimes just one bookmark is on the end of the bar, too often they’re completely misplaced.

Hey there, unfortunately, there are some badly needed fixes to Sync ATM. We have prioritized this and are working on a number of fixes!

Is “Always show bookmarks bar” enabled on your end?

Thank you so much for your promt reply! Yes I have “Always show” enabled on both computers, since I use them quite a lot.

Just wanted to add that I have had a similar experience.

Description of the issue:

Moving bookmark folders in bookmark bar.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

Last night I added Brave to a Windows drive on my Mac Pro and set up sync.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

All seemed well, but now I am back in Mojave and the bookmark folders keep changing position in the bookmark bar.

Expected result:

It should have remained consistent as before.

Reproduces how often:

It’s happened this time and I’ve never tried it before. The shuffling of folders has been going for hours now. I just checked my Android phone and they are different there as well, so it seems like there is a game of musical chairs going on.

Mac OS 10.14.6 (18G1012)

Additional Information:

A couple times I’ve manually dragging folders into place, but they are quickly out of order again.
