BAT disappeared, and I closed my Uphold account

Hello,

Since about 1 month ago, I closed my Uphold account due to lost of trust in this exchange. I run into some problems with them, and because of that I closed that account/wallet.
I tried to disconnect the browser with the account, however, my latest BATs disappeared and I believe that they were sent to that wallet.

Is anything that I can do to retrieve these BATs? If not, what can I do so this doesn’t happen again.
