Automatic updates create new profiles, why?

Every time Brave automatically updates and a restart occurs, a new profile is created. This means Brave treats me as a new user and any bookmarks, saved, passwords, saved auto-fill item, and extensions are gone. Have tried to use the old profile folders to recover these items but have been unsuccessful so far since there are dozens of folders and thousands of files.

  1. Force an update to my laptop.
  2. Restart my laptop.
  3. Voila, start from scratch.

Expected result:
Don’t create new profile(s) removing bookmarks, saved passwords, auto-fill data, and extensions after an update.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.34.81 Chromium: 97.0.4692.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
Ubuntu 18.04

Update: This is not a profile selection issue as I do not need to create a profile, using Guest is fine. Even when I did create profiles it didn’t matter, update caused Brave to act like a new browser, no extensions, no saved passwords, no bookmarks, no history, no saved auto-fill, and asks me if I want to make Brave my default browser. Brave was my default browser before the update.

No need to reply to this as I am no longer using Brave for anything important, only simple browsing. If a bookmark is needed for a website, I will use Firefox to do so. Haven’t lost bookmarks, cache, history, or anything for years using Firefox.
