Briefly describe your issue:
I’ve always had Auto-Contribute turned off with my brave rewards, but last month (on June 6th to be Exact), I got a new M1 Macbook Pro for work, and obviously started using Brave on it. My balance transferred and as of yesterday was showing 47.986 BAT in my account. But apparently the auto contribute somehow got turned back on and i woke up this morning to see 1 BAT had been given to paramountplus, which I NEVER would have authorized!
What Operating System and Brave version are you using (Menu --> About Brave)?
I’m running macOS Ventura, 13.4.1, Brave version: 1.52.530

What date did you connect a your Brave Rewards Profile?
It was originally connected like almost a year ago, but I just recently connected it to my new computer on June 6th, 2023.
Have you been able to successfully receive payments in the past?
Yes
Are you using a VPN? (yes/no)
No
Are you in a supported region (see here for list of supported regions)?
Yes
Does your device pass the SafteyNet check (Android only)?
Yes
Have you manually turned off Auto-contribute on all of your devices?
I HAD, again, after getting a new computer, Auto-Contribute turned itself BACK ON, when i HAD IT OFF!
Are you sure you had turned it off on the new computer?
Auto contribute is for each individual brave installation.
If you think that this was a mistake, please raise a ticket at
it’s currently the weekend. Brave Support generally is not active during American holidays or weekends. Also want to point out that they are working on tickets, usually on a first come, first serve basis. On average month, it’s a 3-5 business day turnaround.
Also, a lot of tickets came in last month so support is taking more time than usual. So please be patient.
To Be completely honest, No I’m not sure it was turned off on my new computer, because I thought once I Connected my Brave Rewards to my Gemini account (which I DID do right when I got my computer, that it would transfer all of my same settings.) Does it expressly say somewhere that If you get a new device you have to manually re-turn off Auto-contribute? I mean they only took 1 BAT from me, but still that’s 1 more BAT I earned that I was not planning on giving away.
Not exactly. But BAT was always supposed to be used for tipping so by default auto contribute is turned on.
It’s kinda your fault if you didn’t review settings.
Also connecting to Gemini doesn’t say it transfers all settings from other device, does it?
I understand but there should have been something saying that you need to manually re-turn off auto-contribute if you get a new machine, and the fact that they have it turned on by default automatically i TOTALLY wrong!
If you resintall Brave or add it to a new device, it has its own settings. You’re installing with defaults. Just like how you would have had to connect it to Uphold, you also would have had to change everything else. I mean, not like all your passwords and bookmarks were miraculously there, right? So just as you turned off Auto Contribute before, this also would have had to been disabled again.
You can create a ticket at Rewards Support Ticket at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001302431 as SmartyAadi advised you earlier, then just wait for however long it takes Support to answer (they have a lot of tickets, so might be several weeks). They will then make the decision.
