Allowable Virtual Private Network

Does the Brave browser allow VPN,s other than their own?

Yes, but only if you have it in the same region as you’re in.

For example, let’s say you live in New York here in the United States. You use a VPN to appear as if you’re in Tokyo, Japan or London, England. You would risk getting your account flagged if you’re wanting to participate in Brave Rewards.

Reason is Rewards uses your VPN, device Locale, and a couple other things to determine your location and know which ads to show you. Ads are restricted to certain regions and device types. So when any of that is spoofed or hidden, Brave doesn’t know where you’re at and assumes it’s either fraud or you trying to bypass regional ad restrictions.

Oh, and just in case you’re wondering, proxy server is not allowed and could result in your account being flagged too…for the same reason.

If you aren’t worried about Rewards, then yeah, go for it with no issue.
