Accessing Privacy Settings in Brave on iPhone

Description of the issue:
On Brave browser on iPhone, the URL brave://settings/content/siteData does not open. It goes to a search page instead. I want to set the “Delete data sites have saved to your device when you close all windows” option, while setting exceptions for specific websites under “Allowed to save data on your device.” How can I do this on iPhone? Thanks!

How can this issue be reproduced?
Open Brave on iPhone, enter this URL in address bar: brave://settings/content/siteData

Expected result:
“On-device site data” options page

Brave Version( check About Brave):
I can’t find an ‘About Brave’ selection in the App. However, I first installed it just a few days ago. Where is the ‘About Brave’ on iPhones?

Mobile Device details
iPhone 13, ios 18.1.1

Additional Information:
None of the configuration URLs that start with brave:// will open up. They just go to search pages.

Thank you!

@jfmorales ios uses webkit unlike the others. Settings are very much different.

What you’ll want to use is something even better, which is Shred.

It’s in Shields settings and then you can toggle off per site for exceptions.

Hi Saoiray,
Thanks for the info about the auto shred feature. I see how to enable it on ios, but I don’t see any way to set exceptions for trusted sites. Is the auto shred feature really all or nothing?

@jfmorales I specifically mentioned the answer to this, as did the articles. Did you choose to only skim through things rather than fully read what was shared?

The articles had pictures and everything. So I’m a little confused at how you did not have the answers. But regardless I guess let me go ahead and answer again…

Shred lets you delete data for a particular site with a single tap. This means you won’t be forcibly logged out of all your favorite websites every time you erase data, and you won’t have to maintain a list of site-by-site exceptions.

Auto Shred lets you automatically delete data for specific sites, so you don’t have to remember to clear data from specific sites. To do so:

  1. Open Shields.
  2. Tap Advanced Controls.
  3. Tap Shred Site Data.

You can configure Auto Shred to happen when all tabs for a site are closed, or on browser restart

Anyway, global settings which is the default option is at settings → Shields & privacy

Per site is done via the lion icon. This is Shields settings for each specific site, which allows you custom control:

And options are things such as to clear when tabs are closed or if only want to happen when the entire app is closed.

Thanks for your patience, Saoiray! For some reason, I had a hard time getting my head around this design, perhaps because it’s so different from how the options work in other browsers. But I finally understand. Thanks for the extra help!
