Use this category to report or troubleshoot issues that occur when navigating to (or inside) a specific website using Brave.

Issues with Web Compatibility are generally universal in that they’re not specific to any Operating System but are instead indicative of a complication between Brave and the offending sites themselves. Given this, notifying the team about these issues can potentially help improve Brave on a larger scale since more than one website (or user) may benefit from resolving the issue. We appreciate anyone willing to bring Web Compatibility issues to our attention.

When doing so, please tell us:

  1. Did the issue present with default Shields settings?
    (Default states are:
    Block: Ads/Trackers, 3rd Party Cookies, 3rd Party Fingerprinting
    Allow: Encrypt Connections enabled (HTTPS), Scripts
  2. Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
  3. Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration
  4. Does the site function as expected when using other web browsers?
  5. What Brave version/Build are you using when you encounter the issue?

Capital One credit card sign in. I can input my sign in details but then all I get is a spinning lock in Brave with default shield settings.

No issue with Firefox or IE11.
Site works normally with shields off.
I also have issues signing into my LLoyds Bank account but that normally works eventually.

I would also draw your attention to this thread where a couple of other posters mention issues about getting into banking sites with Brave - posts #6, #14 specifically and #9 about another issue.

Today Brave updated to: “Brave is up to date [Version 1.0.1 Chromium: 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)]”… Yahoo mail saved log in now does not work. Nor does several other saved log ins. I went and switched all Shield settings off, no change. Turned on “block cross-site” and “Upgrade connections” with no change. Everything else is default. The browser no longer remembers saved log in info. I tried “yahoo” with both BRAVE and FIREFOX. Brave will not log in today, Firefox will. Yesterday Brave was working fine. I applied update and no longer have auto fill with my saved log ins. I have not tried any other features since update. Thank you. I am running Win10 1809 build 17763.864

I only recently switched my default browser to Brave, and my search engine to DuckDuckGo – all in the interest of preserving whatever is left of my privacy…or at least the illusion of privacy.

I like Brave, but I’ve found a site that does not perform as it should when I’m using Brave. It is the Northern Tool & Equipment website. When I select a product to view, if I’m using Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, I see infomation at the top regarding the number of customer reviews/ratings, and the number of customer questions that have been asked. Not so in Brave. In addition, when I scroll down to where those reviews and questions should be…they’re not.

I use a 5-year-old HP 280G mini-tower, Windows 10 Professional. I installed Brave only a week ago, version 85.1.14.84.

If I lower the Brave shields, the site works as it should. If I leave the shields up, I have tried to find a configuration of settings that would allow the information to be shown. HTTPS connections have no effect; no cookies options have any effect; fingerprints have no effect. But if I allow trackers and ads… BINGO.

Strangely, if blocking trackers and ads prevents the reviews/questions from being displayed on the NT&E site…why can I see this information on OTHER sites, like Amazon?

This is NOT a show-stopper, or vitally emergent issue. But it’s curious, no?

Hi I am (only recently) blocked from entering Fedex.com from the password screen.
I used a tip I found in the help section and when I disable shields all seems fine,
So:

  1. Default
  2. Yes
  3. Not Sure, once I turn them on it blocks
  4. Yes
  5. [Version 1.14.84 Chromium: 85.0.4183.121 (Official Build) (64-bit)]

EDIT… I went back to copy and paste the Error message and it is now letting me in with shields On
( default)

LOVE this browser BTW, can’t wait for the android version

Yea…same here. Most credit card sites will not recognize the Brave browser…and I am being FORCED to do quadrupel authenticating EVERY TIME I TRY TO LOG IN. Reason one: Brave blocks bad ads and trackers…these credit card sites rely on these. Reason 2: VPN. I guess they have to be able to track EVERYTHING you do on the site. More and more sites are employing measures to block Ad-Blocks and VPN.

Bug with ‘Brave Shields Up’ with the following website that we run:

Image appears and then vanishes: torguard.jpg (located under the “Freedom Alliance (FA) VPN / Proxy” category)
Brave Desktop version: Version 1.21.76 Chromium: 89.0.4389.86 (Official Build) (64-bit)
The image “torguard.jpg” stays displayed of Brave has the shield turned off. The symptoms are the same within the Brave browser on mobile phones. We have also tested this webpage on the Microsoft Edge browser, Tor Browser, Gab Dissenter browser, and Unstoppable browser, and the image loads correctly on each of these. It case it is helpful, we have also included the specific HTML code for the image as well as the HTML code both before and after the image.

Brave and beta but normally I just change setting on cookies, and tracking sometimes fingerprint off the shields and then on it up the webpage picking up speed on loading the page

Hi, I had just done a reinstall of my operating system, on a Mac, and the issue I’m having lately with Brave is this: for some sites I go to, the browser lags for a minute or two and then I get the page “This site cannot be reached.” It says to check the proxy, the connection, things like that. This seem to happen more often now, since my reinstall. Well, my connection is fine, and I don’t do much to the Brave settings. When I got this message with one site, I tried it in Safari, and nothing would happen–the site didn’t load. So I tried it in Brave on my tablet, and the site loaded like normal. I hadn’t changed any settings, really. What causes this to happen with some sites, on desktop Brave, and not others? I have Encrypt Connections enabled, Standard fingerprinting, and Shields always enabled with the default settings. The browser version I am using is 1.29.81. Thanks!

Greetings, I’m experiencing an issue with this website displaying text in white, over a light grey background. ( https://kunstler.com/clusterfuck-nation/here-it-comes/) it happens with and without standard shields. On more than one device, from Android 9-13 the text is in black on most recent versions of Firefox & Chrome for Android 13. Https is enabled. Using most recent brave version on pixel 6, Android 13.

We’re not able to open https://www.winzogames.com/privacy-policy on brave browser.
It is not opening even with default shield settings. The page opens fine on other browsers.
Using v1.64.113 version of brave.
