I have just tried to monitor brave via the built-in task manager and this is what it looked like when Brave stopped working.
I can only provide crash details logged from Apple.

@Mattches when you get a chance to look through this, not sure if you’ll be able to help OP and whoever else. Thanks.
I would be interested to know how many resources are used when you’re using a fresh profile in the browser. On my end, using the profile I always use with several tabs open (probably too many tbh) I see the following stats in Activity monitor
— note that I have Beta running at the same time as well, also showing reasonable CPU usage) :
Can anyone here experiencing this issue please try creating a new browser profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add new profile
) and close your old profile window so that you only have one profile running.
Now open some tabs in the new profile and browse normally for a few minutes. Then, take a look at both the built-in task manager as well as the system task manager (`Activity monitor for macOS users here) and check to see if the browser is now showing normal numbers with respect to resources used.
@shapeless — sorry to say but your particular issue does seem to be system related rather than something specific to the browser. Other users in this thread are not reporting the same behavior as you. I am also unclear — are you saying that Brave is showing the same symptoms on your Android device as well?
Can you try downloading the Beta build on your desktop and see if you get the same freeze?
@Mattches - It might seem so, but I don’t see why. Besides it freezes, it’s identical. The freezing can come from something else, don’t know. It seems not relevant so much, I think. It’s a side-effect of Brave’s over-usage of RAM and CPU, which is the same, as others experience.
Yes, it’s what I am saying. But without freezing the system. But over-usage… yes.
I can try. But I don’t know why. I am, right now, happy that my computer doesn’t freeze and I don’t want to risk anything right now.
So I’ve tried to use the new profile and browse as usual.
These results are captured after about 20 minutes of working. A few minutes later, the same freeze occurred.

I am using the Beta version now, so I will hit you up if it happens again.
Hi, while i am not on linux I can attest to running into this issue on win11pro, not all that long ago. Thought it was caused by brave, ultimately it was actually a combination of a HW Acceleration issue combined with some shortcuts I created (more precisely, I tracked it down to web-page “apps” I had created) some on purpose and some I didn’t realize - i.e. google items like contacts/g-voice/sheets/etc. + other non-google apps, plus something else.
I took me a while to figure it all out - curious, after you uninstalled brave, did you confirm all the folders/directories that it creates, did you go and confirm the uninstaller removed ALL of them? Does linux retain profile or other brave configuration data somewhere it is “picking back up automatically” when it is reinstalled?
Does it happen after re-install but BEFORE you re-sync it with your block-chain profile?
I did have to disable hw acceleration for a while and then remove all the apps i had created and not re-sync, until i sorted it - then after all of that, i was able to re-enable sync and acceleration. Been working flawlessly for a couple months since the issue started.
I’ve read a couple posts here about not wanting to come off as a fan-boi but frankly - i think i would cry if i had to go back to chrome - i insinst on supporting brave because i feel like it is the ONLY browser that has any real privacy and love that it doesn’t spy on me in the same ways that all the others do - better still none of my data is centrally stored - soo done with centralized storage solutions. It’s what’s made me fight through the issues i have had - and i have had several but it always gets worked out. Super appreciative to the brave team and community for ideas to get past the issues that have come up.
hope to see you find a resolution that restores your faith and support of the product.
best wishes
Braveが仮想メモリを大量に消費してしまう現象について may possibly be related, though OP said it takes hours before crashing.
