**Description of the issue: 2k monitor cutting to black for a couple seconds constantly when using Brave Browser Only
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Playing videos on youtube
- Opening new Brave windows or tabs
Expected result:
To work
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
Version 1.64.116 Chromium: 123.0.6312.105 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Additional Information:
-
Back in December I bought a new monitor (ASUS VG27AQA1A 27" 170Hz 2K). The picture kept cutting out when I was watching videos.
-
I troubleshot my GPU, Windows settings, and Brave settings.
-
I bought a higher quality Displayport 1.4 cable cable of 8k 60fps. The confusing thing is that this did help the problem some. I was able to watch videos again, but the issue persisted specifically when watch youtube videos at 2k or higher.
-
I sent the monitor back, figuring it was faulty and purchased a new monitor (Acer Predator XB273U 27" 144Hz 2K). Problem persists on the new monitor.
-
I spent a few more hours troubleshooting my GPU, Windows, and Brave. I just gave up and figured it was something faulty with my GPU. I can play games at 2k 144FPS without the screen cutting out, so I am at least happy with that.

Today (5 months later) I bought a KVM switch that support up to 8k 60Hz(4k 120Hz, 2k 240Hz). This is because I built a new PC and I want to turn my current PC into my “Work Only” PC. I bought new DP cables, again selecting DP 1.4 VESA Certified cables.

Now my monitor is cutting out every time I open a new tab or click a link to open a new webpage. And now it has occurred to me that this issue may be completely caused by Brave. I just opened Google Chrome to confirm this, which I would have never have thought of before since they both run on chromium, how could they really be different enough to cause an issue THIS BAD. And Hallelujah! I can watch 2k 60FPS videos is ZERO issues.
I would like to continue using Brave as my browser for a couple reasons, However I am prepared to switch back to Google if I can’t fix this issue.
Now since I have already read a few posts similar to this one and tried all of the fixes listed, I figured it is time to make my own post.
EDIT: I forgot that I made a post about this back in December (Youtube dropping frames). I jumped the gun and falsely marked that post as resolved and since I gave up I forgot to go back and correctly state that it was not resolved. Also the issue changed from the video freezing to the whole screen cutting out again. This was the initial issue before playing with the GPU and Brave settings. At any rate, I think it’s been long enough since that last post to justify creating a new one?
Thank you for your time.
