Description of the issue:
Certain youtube videos lag like hell, especially when sped up. This does not happen on Chrome.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
I click and watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SJWIsHMdUs
Sped up on 2.5 speed. Again, plays totally fine on Chrome and even Firefox…
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Lagging every few seconds in. It doesn’t buffer fast enough
Expected result:
Lag
Reproduces how often:
Every time I look at it. Not all videos. Just some, typically videos with lower view counts.
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10
Version 1.24.84
Additional Information:
Also when getting my version. Brave errored when trying to update.
@45223,
Thanks for reaching out. Testing on my end the video played without any issue. I’m wondering if you have any extensions installed at this time? If so, can you try disabling them and re-testing the video to see if the issue persists?
It’s working now. It happens periodically for videos. Specifically low view count videos and when sped up. Not sure if you put the video speed on 2x or not…
Sometimes closing Brave via task manager will get it to work, sometimes not.
As for extensions, it should work with these extensions. The same extensions are in Firefox and Chrome and it works fine. As I mentioned in original post, videos tend to work okay at normal speed. I watch vids sped up which is where I run into issues.
It’s literally only because I like Brave and what you guys have as an idea so much +BAT tokens that I still use it. Otherwise I’d go back to Chrome or Firefox because they just work without and trouble. But it’s seriously irritating to run into. I’m running into it again now which prompted me to come back and post but I can take a video maybe to show you what I mean if you are having issues replicating it on your end.
I have a few different thoughts on why it could be lagging on vids at 2x speed but what really puzzles me is why it’s only on certain youtube vids, specifically low view count vids. I’d imagine youtubes website is universal in its streaming of vids, maybe not.
@45223,
I would still recommend testing to see if disabling your extensions and/or using a private window and/or using a new profile to see whether or not it makes a difference.
I did test w/speed 2x for the videos and was unable to reproduce the issue on any OS. You may also want to try disabling Hardware Acceleration (Settings --> Advanced --> System --> Hardware Acceleration) in the browser and see if this helps the performance.
