YouTube videos don't play

When I access YouTube on brave I can’t watch most videos. There are a few exceptions where I can watch a video but 99% of the time I am met with this error Playback ID: hq1Yh-4zQhwROHTb

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw4yseZ91so is a video that wont play on my browser however https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ta4dbRD7E will play on my browser.

**Did the issue present with default Shields settings?
not really sure what I am supposed to do or gain from this link

Does the site function as expected when Shields are turned off?
Yes it does

**Is there a specific Shields configuration that causes the site to break? If so, tell us that configuration.
I don’t see where it would tell me this. But when I enable trackers and ads it does play but doesn’t this defeat the purpose of brave?

Does the site work as expected when using Chrome?
Yes

Brave version:
1.37.116

@Sadge,
Can you please tell me what OS you’re having this issue on? Additionally, can you tell me if you’re able to watch YT content when viewing it in a Private browsing window?

I am using Windows 10 Home 21H1 and yes it does let me watch it in private browser.

@Sadge,
Thank you for confirming. I’m inclined to think this is either an extension issue or a cookies/cache issue — most likely the latter.

Can you please try visiting youtube.com, clicking the “lock” icon in the address bar, then Site settings --> Clear data. Refresh the page then test again to see if the issue is resolved.

Just gave it a shot and no luck there.

I did just try disabling my extension and it does work so I will narrow down which is the problem ty for such quick replies and your help thus far

You’re very welcome — please let me know what extension was causing the conflict.

I have too many ad blockers maybe? I have AdGuard AdBlocker and Ghostery. When I disabled one of the blockers the video will play. It doesn’t matter which one I just cant run both at the same time. I’m not sure if these came from my last browser or not honestly. Are these even necessary with Brave?

That’s very strange. And no, not really — there may be some additional options for what is/isn’t blocked in browser with these extension but overall, Brave’s Shields handle most of if not all of the same type of ad/tracker blocking.
