Windows 11 updated, now Brave will bring up the page with website options for what I am searching for but when I click on one it times out and won’t load it.
I contacted Microsoft community, uninstalled Brave and reinstalled it. I cleared the cache. I did a scan, it said there were corrupted files and corrected them, didn’t help.
Firefox and Chrome work fine.
I tried to disable Brave Shield but clicking on the Shields icon does nothing. That icon is white.
@DKA,
Can you please share a screenshot of what you’re seeing when you launch the browser so I can get a better idea of what’s going on?
Additionally, can you please try downloading and running the Beta build of the browser and test to see if it opens/run as expected?
Here are the screenshots. It brings up the list of websites but when I click on one it can’t bring open it up.
@DKA,
Can you please try creating a new profile and testing the behavior in it to see if that does the trick? Make sure you close the original profile window so only one window (to the new profile) is open when testing.
How do I create a new profile?
Do I close the browser window and open Brave again?
I didn’t try the Beta download. Would I need to uninstall Brave before downloading beta?
@DKA,
To create a new profile, go to Menu --> More tools --> Add new profile
and then simply close the original profile window.
No, you can download, install and run the Beta build along side the production build without any issue — it’ll will basically just run as a totally separate browser.
I did download the Beta. It appears to work fine. Is there an easy way to bring all my extensions to Beta?
I assume I will need to keep using Beta and I have several extensions on Brave that will need to move over.
Do I just keep using Beta?
I created a new profile and the new Brave browser works fine.
I just found these 2 emails in my spam.
I downloaded Beta and it works fine.
I created a new profile and the new browser works fine.
I have been responding in community.
have you Restarted your pc ?
if restarting your pc doesn’t fix the issue
- Disable all extensions and see whether if it fixes your issue
- Clear Browsing data, All time and see whether if it fixed your issue
If that doesn’t work, reset your brave profile found in settings
I restart the computer at least once each day. After I uninstalled Brave I shut the computer down, restarted it and installed Brave again. It didn’t help.
I have cleared cookies and browsing history.
Can I just keep using Beta or the new profile? They both seem to work fine.
If so, is there an easy way to bring my extensions from my old Brave browser to new one?
You have also tried this on the problematic profile ?
Also Restart means you need to actually Restart the PC, Not shutdown and turning it back ON, Use the Restart option found in the Start menu
In Task Manager, in Performance tab, CPU’s Up time->>> It should Reset to 0:00:00:00
without Restart
After Restart
In the above image, it shows Memory as 3.0 GB but that’s due to Brave Browser has been Launched…
Memory use Right after Restarting PC
Everytime Your Memory Gets Reset, Lots of your PC Problems will be fixed, Not just with PC but also in Life… Its hard to Reset memory in Real life but you can easily do it with your OS, Just use the Restart option found in start menu
As for your other question, you can simply reinstall the extensions and export the Extensions data… Since you said the problem is only with the Page load and not instant crash upon launch, you will have the time to export the settings data and Extensions list by taking a screenshot…
@DKA,
It’s honestly up to you — you can keep using Beta if you want but I suspect that either one of the extensions you have installed is causing the issue or, if not, doing a full cleaning of your cache/browser data should resolve the issue on your original installation.
I would first try disabling your extensions and then testing the to see if you get the same issue in the browser. If not, start re-enabling them one at a time until you find the offending extension.
If that does not work, you mentioned that you’d tried this before but I think you should try clearing your browsing data again, ensuring that you select the Cookies and site data
option as well as Cached images and files
option, and that you’re clearing data for “all time”.
Duck Duck Go might be the issue. Try a different search engine and see if the problem continues.
I deleted Duckduckgo and reinstalled it a couple times but it didn’t help. Braveworked when Duckduckgo was uninstalled. When I checked extensions on Chrome and the Brave test profile, at the top it said “Full access” the extensions could see and change information on this site. When I checked extensions on the original Brave, at the top it said no access these extensions can’t change information on this site. I deleted and reinstalled Duckduckgo again. This time it said “Full access” and it works again.
Well it just stopped working again. It still says “Full access”. I uninstalled Duckduckgo and reinstalled it. “Full access” and it still doesn’t work.
With the Brave profile 2 and the beta Brave I have Duckduckgo installed and they work fine. Why does it not work on the Brave profile I use?
For extensions I have on that profile I would have to enter 12 or 24 word phrases to activate them. Getting that profile to work again with Duckduckgo would save me a LOT of time.
