Hi, when I tried logging into my Amazon account after downloading Brave, it sent me an email and a text asking if it was me. It also showed my location and web browser and it showed that I was using Chrome, which I was not. I was using Brave. That makes me really nervous that Brave is a Google product. I know you are written with Chromium, but can you explain why my devices would recognize Brave as Google Chrome? Thanks.
J
Brave doesn’t disclose “Brave” in the User-Agent header in order to avoid fingerprinting and/or sniffing. It just says it’s “Chrome”.

You can be sure it’s not.
Google Chrome and Chromium (open-source) are developed on the V8 Engine
Brave is based on Chromium (open-source) which also uses the V8 Engine but it has no relation to Google Chrome or Google as a product. This is why most Extensions in the Chrome Web Store work with Brave.
Fun fact: The Big Dog at Brave was the co-founder of Mozilla Firefox. And the farther of JavaScript.
