I don’t have a website, but I really like the idea of allowing acceptable ads because it helps content creators. Why is it not a good idea to give users the option to accept acceptable ads or block all ads, rather than just blocking all ads? I would really like it if Brave added this option because it helps content creators.
@REx1 there’s not really any such thing as “acceptable ads.” Each and every ad is a nuisance but also carries with it a risk of trying to gather data, deliver malware, etc. You can always disable Shields on a per site basis if you wish to allow ads to show, but
In terms of supporting creators, have you sent them any tips? Keep in mind that with Brave Rewards we can earn BAT and tip them to Creators we wish to support. And if your favorite Creators aren’t signed up with Brave, you may want to encourage them to do it so they can receive tips.
- Acceptable ads list is HUGE (like 20x the size of what we have) and would probably cause perf issues. On lower spec Android/iphone this would be certainly a non-starter.
- We would also get constant complaints of Shields “not working” because we allow an acceptable advert.
- We have standard blocking mode to allow some specific ads (search ads). But this can be changed if the user wishes.
“acceptable ads” are just ads from those that bribed their way around blockers that allow them.
