Anytime I go to Password and Autofill menu in the Brave browser, it seems my anti-virus system blocks access to buddyschool.com and I wonder why would it always tries to access the domain.
Anybody else having this kind of issue? Some clues would help a lot.
@rparbez simple clue is you are saying it happens when you open your password manager. This tells us that you have a saved password entry for that website. Or at least a domain that you have saved is redirecting. So you would just find and delete your entry related to that website.
Explanation:
When we open password manager, Brave often pings websites from the list in an attempt to fetch favicons, the little icons that appear to represent the website, such as which would make it easier to recognize the site instead of
An example is like where someone shared at Opening Password Manager triggers MalwareBytes Warning / Compromised Website - #7 by Beavee and the reply immediately following shows how their PlanetFitness entry was reaching out to a subdomain that had been compromised.
To be clear, even if it wasn’t blocked, no data would have been sent or received beyond just getting the favicon. But as this has been coming up as a concern, Brave is getting rid of it. You can see Github at https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/42955 and will eventually be getting to the “Release” (normal) version of Brave whenever we catch up to that version.
Until then, as I stated, just means you’d have to edit or remove the saved password entry you have that’s associated with the blocked domain.
Thank you so much! It actually worked. It was no Malware or anything, just removing legit password entry stopped the issue from happening anymore. One entry was SiteGround hosting credentials and one was for BuddySchool.
Thank you
