Web-app shortcut option gone, replaced with basic shortcuts

At some point, Brave updated, and now I don’t seem to be able to create web-apps with any site. Previously, I could save it as a shortcut and click an option to open it in a separate window, effectively acting as it’s own app. This option seems to have been replaced with a shortcut that can only open within the browser instead, which I find rather useless. Can the web-app option be brought back?

I second this! I just noticed that the option to “open in separate window” has been removed. Please bring it back!

How to Enable “Create Shortcut” for Standalone Apps in Brave Browser

If you’re trying to create standalone Brave apps and can’t find the “Create Shortcut” option in the settings, it hasn’t been removed—it’s just disabled by default. You can enable it through the flags menu!

Steps to Enable:

  1. Open Brave and type brave://flags/ in the address bar.
  2. Search for “shortcut”.
  3. Find the option to re-enable the “Create Shortcut” feature.

Why This Matters:
Creating single-pane browser windows for URLs allows for a minimal standalone experience, letting you launch apps in their own environment without toolbars.
