Videos stopping on screen lock

Description of the issue:
Playing a video works for a few seconds after locking the screen but then stops.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. open any media website using brave: youtube, twitch, spotify, etc.
  2. let video/audio play
  3. lock screen
  4. audio stops playing after about 12 seconds.
  5. if lock screen button is pushed again, resumes audio play

Expected result:
Audio does not stop playing after locking the screen.

Additional Information:
Background playing works but not when screen is locked.
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling
