Video buffering issues

Whenever I try to play a video and click on a new tab or visit another tab the video stops loading unless I switch to the tab where the vide is playing, how do I stop this? I want the video to keep loading even though I am not on the page.

@Simon1982 I could randomly guess at things and give some ideas, but no idea if I’d be right. Whenever you post for help, it’s vital you provide a lot more information. For example, are you on Android, Windows, Linux, iOS, or Mac? Which version of Brave are you using? As you can imagine, settings and capabilities can vary greatly between them.

So if you can do a favor and respond with more information, I can try to better assist you.

Oh okay, should have mentioned it. I am using Windows 7 x64, with Brave Version 1.47.186 Chromium: 109.0.5414.119 (Official Build) (64-bit).

I never had this issue before but maybe I might have enabled something in Brave flags or settings.

Ah, so older browser and protections as Windows 7 is no longer supported.

I just tested on mine and can’t replicate. Usually Windows is no problem. I know on Mobile there’s settings to allow things to play on the background, but no such setting on Desktop. That said, you may want to try to check brave://discards and see if you have things set to like battery saver mode. Or can make sure that Auto Discardable is turned off.

Auto discard will put tabs to sleep when they aren’t in use. There may be other things to check, but that’s something off the top of my head for right now.

I can’t seem to find Auto discard in brave://flags

@Simon1982 I didn’t say brave://flags. I said brave://discards.

Much appreciated, thank you that seemed to work.
