Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing a frustrating video playback issue on Brave (latest stable version as of posting), and I’m wondering if anyone has encountered the same problem — or better yet, found a fix.
Problem Description:
Whenever I pause a video (YouTube and some other platforms) for more than a few seconds, and then hit Play, the video takes several seconds to resume. It feels like it’s loading unnecessarily, even though:
- The video was already fully buffered at the time I paused.
- The buffer bar clearly shows the content has already been loaded.
- During this time, nothing happens — no playback, just a long wait.
Also, sometimes when I click on a new video, there’s a similar long delay before it starts playing, even though I have a fast and stable internet connection.
This pause/resume issue happens 100% of the time, and the click-to-play delay happens intermittently.
What I’ve already tried:
- Disabled Brave Shields entirely
- Tried with hardware acceleration both enabled and disabled
- Tested in Private Window
- Turned off all ad-block extensions and any other content blockers
- Cleared cache and cookies
- Updated Brave to the latest version
- Made sure all components are updated via
brave://components
- Fully updated my Windows 10 Home 22H2 system (latest version as of now)
- I’m using 16GB RAM
- Confirmed the issue does not happen on other browsers like Chrome or Firefox
Despite all that, the problem still persists.
My Question:
Is this a known issue with Brave, or could there be a flag/setting that’s affecting playback behavior?
If anyone has ideas, workarounds, or needs me to provide logs or test flags, I’m happy to help out — this is a pretty consistent issue on my setup and really disrupts the experience.
Thanks in advance!
