@Mattches was debating web compatibility, desktop support, or what? So far I’m only experiencing this issue on Brave and only with Reddit. This issue does not happen on YouTube or some of the streaming sites I tested on.
It has permission to run in the background. Memory Saver is off. I have tried with new profile and also have reset all settings. Basically have gone down the list of things as best I can. Tested on Chrome and the video(s) continue to play.
You able to replicate as well?

Windows 11 Pro
Yeah it looks like I can reproduce as well but this also happens on both Chrome and Firefox for me. Tested on Windows 10 and macOS (Sequoia, 15.1).
I’m inclined to think that this has something to do with the “new” reddit. If you visit the same video but instead go to old.reddit.com (full URL would be https://old.reddit.com/r/StopEatingSeedOils/comments/1glwncs/food_scientist_thought_on_this_one_everyone/), the video continues to play when switching tabs/windows.
Do you get that same result?
I’m really dumbfounded now. Earlier tested on Chrome and it was playing even as I switched back and forth between various things. But when I just tried it now on https://www.reddit.com/r/StopEatingSeedOils/comments/1glwncs/food_scientist_thought_on_this_one_everyone/
on Chrome, it even stopped playing just from me trying to scroll down while on the same page.
So I’m just going to now chalk it up to complete weirdness in coding and all.
And yeah, seems to work on Old Reddit as used to. Guess further confirmation that it’s something new being done. Kind of stinks, but it is what it is.
Yeah I think this is very likely a reddit issue. Will ask some folks to see if they have any other suggestions on it but not sure if there’s a ton we can do here.
