@neu567 Probably should do a new support ticket, yes. But I guess can also tag @SaltyBanana as they helped you before.
Well, I would like to add myself to the list. Though, I tried a few times and it did work in the end but it kept happening for 3 - 4 times. There’s some real issue with Captcha
Previously it just fixed itself, @SaltyBanana didn’t helped, (probably very busy person) .
It was fixed in just the latest 1.147.x version.
And @SmartyAadi I tried 6 times, didn’t worked.
Well, I guess we’ll have to wait till someone from support lands here and can assist you.
@Saoiray and @SmartyAadi , I saw in an issue that you guys are just regular users and aren’t officially supported by Brave. then, why do you do it ? just for info…
Well, I do it since I have free time during the day and think that helping around would be better than other things to do like vid games or youtube. this also helps me learn more about Brave’s system and how it all works. To me its quite fascinating!
Originally was out of frustration because it was difficult to get help. Support was short staffed and some of my issues weren’t getting responded to. I had answers and thought I’d do people a favor by expediting things, rather than them waiting and possibly not getting a response.
As time went by and I received thanks from people and was even given some positive feedback from Support, it slowly just became a part of my routine. I’m actually disabled and not able to work. I don’t have a car and am living on a very limited income. So I stick around playing games, watching anime, etc. And then when kind of bored, just check here and respond. It’s my “social interaction” and all.
Hi @neu567 apologies for the delay.
Responding to your DM now.
@Saoiray Would i able to choose which creators i want to send my BATs that I would earn by watching ads after the sunset ? I’m hearing auto contribution everywhere, but i don’t want that to happen (my country is not supported)
Short answers = No
It’s going to work like iPhone has been for the past couple years. What this means is you won’t see any BAT counters. You can watch ads, but there’s no accountability. So you won’t know if you earned 1 BAT, 10 BAT, 100 BAT, or anything. All you will know is you had ads appear and that Brave is promising that all BAT from ads are being shared to Creators through the same means as Auto-Contibute
.
The way Auto Contribute works is it would use the tip amount and divide it up among Creators you visited. So if you spent 90% of all your time here on Brave Community and the rest of the 10% watching videos from someone you like on YouTube, then that’s how the tips will be divided.
As for vBAT currently in your browser, you’ll have until they say it’s going away to tip it. The aim for this is in April, but we don’t know if will happen later. However, from now on, you won’t be able to earn BAT unless you’re linked to a custodial account. So if your country isn’t supported, you’ll just have the Auto-Contribute
method or you can choose to turn off Rewards until your country is supported again and you can connect to a custodial account.
@Saoiray @SaltyBanana If we could choose a single website where all our BATs should go, that would have worked for me. I wanted to support websites like wikipedia and khan academy.
I would wait unitil the sunsetting date, If I was able to claim my pending BATs then I would donate to someone, if i couldn’t I would still donate to someone.
but due to this “Auto-Contribute” thing, I’d have to completely disable this rewards system from settings as it’s useless now FOR ME. (it itself is great)
Still Brave being open-source is a great browser. I love it. especially for fingerprinting blocking. I had compared brave and firefox , and brave turned out to be more secure.
