V1.68.141 freezes on websites


Description of the issue:

99% of time when I open up web pages they are freezing. They either are unresponsive/frozen or lead to the Awe Snap.

How can this issue be reproduced?

Release Notes v1.68.141 (Aug 14, 2024)

Additional Information:

I have reset brave, uninstalled, reinstalled, --disable-extensions, --disable-gpu, etc

Regardless, nothing has changed and it still continues to happen.

Can you tell me if you have any anti-virus software enabled on your PC at this time? Additionally, can you please tell me if you’re on a proxy network or using a VPN service?

Lastly, can you please tell me what version of Windows you’re using when you see this issue?

Bitdefender - Build 27.0.40.174

No proxy/vpn

Windows 11 Pro - V 23H2 - OS Build 22631.4037

Does disabling Bitdefender make any difference in the browsers performance?

Yes. I tried that also. I also tried with a new profile. There are no issues on any other browser, only with brave. I also disabled shields, and same thing is happening.

One more quick test for you — can you confirm whether or not the Beta version of the browser behaves the same way as the stable version? Note that downloading/installing the Beta will not overwrite your current installation.

I downladed it and will test it out over the weekend.

I do not have the same issues with the Beta version. Beta version has been working great and without issues.

Can you please try updating the stable version to the newest release (v.1.69.162) and tell me if the issue persists here after updating?

Removed McAfee, did every test available from HP, ran Malware checker. Touchpad stops, page locks up, tabs close 5 seconds after I click on them to close. I started using Edge and have not had any of those problems. Been using Brave for at least 2 years and it just started happening within the last 2 months.
