URL Suggestions Do Not Work On Google Search Results Pages

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue:
The address bar lacks any features at all when you access it while on a Google search results page. This includes the quick copy, URL Suggestions, and quick share features.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Go to Google.
  2. Search something.
  3. Tap on the address bar.

Expected result:
The address bar should behave the exact same as it does anywhere else, but instead it completely strips itself of any features.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave 1.5.8 Chromium 80.0.3987.119

Mobile Device details
Samsing Galaxy S10+ running Android 10.

Additional Information:
This is what the address bar does normally. I’ve crossed out my top sites because it’s my own business.

This is what it does when you tap on it while on a Google search results page.

Edit: Forgot to mention that this does not happen on a DuckDuckGo search results page. It’s only Google.

@Wiggly,
I get the functions shown in your first image when I perform the steps you describe. Can you tell me what type of device and what Android OS you have running on it?

@Mattches

I included those details in the post. If it matters I have Google in desktop view mode. I don’t know if that changes anything but it might.

@Mattches

Samsung Galaxy S10+ running Android 10.

For me it doesn’t matter if it’s in mobile or desktop view mode, both behave the same in regards to this bug. But if there is a URL copied to your clipboard it will ask you if you want to paste that URL, otherwise URL suggestions are still absent. If I copy something else to my clipboard to replace the URL so it doesn’t suggest it then I get the blank result as shown in my second screenshot.

@Wiggly,
Still can’t reproduce this, but I’ve reached out to Android team to take a look. Appreciate your patience.

@Mattches

It behaved the same way on my previous phone too, which was a Samsung Galaxy S8+ running Android 8.0.0 Oreo.

@Wiggly,
Thanks for the information – still waiting to hear back from Android team. Very busy day today.
