The elephant in the room here is that Uphold does all the work related to financial compliance. This division of labor means that we can’t just hook up an ERC-20-compatible address and call it a day, because then we’d be on the hook for all that compliance work.
I understand the desire to be compliant with existing government regulations. The inability to just hook an address to the system and do transactions… We might as well use paypal and browser forked from chrome with noscript and ublock origin enabled.
The novelty of crypto transactions isn’t going to carry forward for a large portion of the internet.
Sorry this is all really snarky, but the disappointment level here is pretty high. This is a serious issue.
