Unable to open a website

I am unable to open one website; all others OK. Its just a news site. I can open it on another browser. I get this screen:

This site can’t be reached

The webpage at https://www.newsmax.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Maybe . . .

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

brave://flags

Search for “quic”

In the results, locate:

Experimental QUIC protocol

To the right of that, select Disabled

That flag re “Experimental QUIC protocol” might not be available in your version of Brave Browser. Keep moving:

Close that Brave Browser window.

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

brave://settings/cookies

Scroll down that settings page, to Sites that can always use cookies

Click the Add button

Enter [*.]newsmax.com as the site . . . but do not Enable the following:

  • Current Private session only
  • Including third-party cookies on this site

Click the Add button

Next, go to:

brave://settings/content/javascript

Scroll down that javascript settings page to Allowed to use javascript

Click the Add button

Enter [*.]newsmax.com as the site . . . but do not Enable the following:

  • Current Private session only

Click the Add button

Next, go to:

brave://settings/clearBrowserData

Select the Advanced tab

Set Time range to “All time”

ENABLE everything except:

  • Passwords and other sign-in data

(Myself, I would NOT make that exception)
(because I would have a backup prepared.)
(In other words, be prepared.)

Click on the “Clear data” button

If you did not find in the cookies settings procedure above, the “Sites that can always use cookies” selection, then Brave probably now expects users to manage the Shields (the icon) settings when visiting a website.

Shields Basics

How do I configure global and site-specific Shields settings?

How do I use Shields while browsing?
